Recipe for Christmas! Enjoy

I thought everyone would like this amazing recipe for Christmas. My girlfriend, Jacque, schooled me in cooking while I was living in AZ. And it was worth it! This sugar cookie recipe is not for the weary. I broke it up during the day just to get a breather. But the end result is worth it. They are not only delicious but your imagination can create the most beautiful designs.

Sugar Cookie Recipe:
6 cups of flour
3 tsps baking powder
2 cups butter (room temp) 4 sticks
2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 tsps vanilla
1tsp salt

Preheat 350
Cream butter and sugar
And eggs/vanilla. Mix well
Mix dry ingredients & add to butter mixture
Chill for 1 to 2 hours
Bake cookies 8-10 minutes
Or watch closely to smaller cookies or the will burn on bottom!

Flooding Icing:
1 pound box Confectioner Sugar (powdered sugar)
5 tablesp. Meringue powder (found @ Micheals's Crafts in Baking Isle)
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup water (add little at a time)

Mix well, should be stiff and creamy. Add coloring (not food coloring). Coloring jars in the baking isle @ your local craft store. They come in little white jars. Add coloring, put desired amount in bottles and start flooding your cookies.(See pic below for flooding pics)

ButterCream Icing:
1/2 cup veg. shortening (crisco)
1/2 cup butter (1 stick room temp)
1 tsps vanilla
4 cups confectioners sugar
2 tablesp. milk

This cream will be used to decorate with in plastic pastry bags and tips. Again, pick your tips @ your local craft store or kitchen store. Plastic disposable bags are good and easy. I usually place this frosting in separate containers, add my coloring, mix well and then place into bags.
Let the flooded cookies dry completely before decorating with buttercream. And you prob lay want to buy size 1,2,3 tips for frosting. They are the easiest!
